The working cut section model designed to enable students to study different components of a Automotive Differential Gear Box & demonstrate its working. The setup uses an actual automobile differential gear box used in commercial vehicles, sectioned at suitable locations to display internal meshing gears. In order to visualize operation of the gear box , a handle is provided to rotate the gear box from input shaft. Optionally an electric motor can be provided to run the gear box.
A functional model in metal. Comprises of a hollow bulb fixed at the center of a hollow shaft. Two arms bent at right angles at the end are fixed on to the shaft in opposite directions. The bulb along with this shaft rests on two stands at the two ends and rotates around it axis. Water introduced in the bulb is heated to boiling point to produce steam which comes out of the bent arms.
